We–Laura and Jessica–have been best friends since 11th grade, when our awesome moms put extra cookies in our homemade lunches every day. We quickly discovered we had many things in common, including a budding adoration of good food. Back then, we ate the best that western Loudoun County, VA had to offer: cheese fries at Ruby Tuesday, crab bisque at the local french place, and key lime pie wherever available.
Despite not living in the same town since high school, we’ve stayed incredibly close. And a huge part of our ongoing conversation is about food–recipes we’ve tried, food memoirs, magazines, and blogs we love, and the obsessive planning of where to eat when we visit each other. Butter Poached is a way to chronicle that conversation.
Laura lives in
D.C., Boston, Springfield, Illinois with her husband, Ed, and their dog, Tenley. She and Ed have never met a tasting menu they didn’t love, but they appreciate humble dinners in, too. Jessica lives in Brooklyn where she cooks for herself and her beau, makes the occasional brunch for her book club, and bakes for the students she works with. She has a spreadsheet of restaurants she’s been to in New York, and was extremely proud when it passed 200.
